Butterfly and Blooms Tutorial

Decided to take a deep breath and find a tutorial that might help me with the frustrations…and it has..

The flowers were masked off along with the butterfly. The background is very dark blues and yellow and paynes grey. Table salt is sprinkled to give it a sparkle and then crumpled plastic wrap is put over the background until the paint is dry.

Once the background is dry I peeled off the mask and started painting some of the detail in the flower…this is my results so far and it was fun….smiling.

  1. Salt! I loved to see the watercolors that artists brought in for framing whenever they used salt on them. It was fun to see how it reacted with the paint.
